18th NATIONAL LASALLIAN LEADERS CONVENTION

DAY 1 (Welcome)

On the 9th of December year 2008, 6 delegates from La Salle PJ embarked on a journey to La Salle Centre, Ipoh. Leticia, Rodney, Victoria, Siow, Poly and Calvin got on the bus at about 1000 hours

They reached the La Salle Centre at about 1230 hours and was greeted by the statue of St. Micheal

They were then greeted by the OTs with some form of greeting dance and the banner of the theme for the 18th National La Sallian Leaders Convention

Then there were the KYTCHEN Rules

They were also greeted by about 83 other delegates from 18 La Sallian Schools from all around Malaysia and Singapore. They were then treated to a few icebreakers and games. Then they adjourned to wash up and prepare for dinner. After dinner there was the Keynote Address which talked about the struggles of La Salle during his time 300 years ago. There was then the Intro to Reflection and the Reflection itself. Followed by lights out.

DAY 2 (Breaking Personal Walls)

They woke up at 0700 hours then had morning reflection in the form of stretching exercises about the ability to reach anything if you put your mind to it. Then was breakfast followed by a sing-a-long session. Then the first session started with Mr.Jerry Lewis talking about personal walls that we face each day. Lunch was then held and was followed up by the workshop session(Rodney and Victoria went for the Theater workshop, Leticia and Siow went for Movement and Calvin and Poly went for Miming). Then was Tea followed by dinner. Then came the Heritage Play about St. John Baptist De La Salle performed by the Organizing team as a Musical.

DAY 3 (Breaking Societies Walls)

Once again they woke up at 0700 hours and had reflection. Then was reflection and breakfast. This was followed by a sing-a-long and sessions by a cunted speaker (Martin Jalleh) and our presentation on the Exposure Program.

Then they had lunch and the workshops continued. Then they had tea and had the workshop presentation where the delegates presented what they learned in the workshop in the form of a show. then was dinner and another session by Martin. The session went into the time for Summary. Then was reflection and bed.

DAY 4 (Building Bridges)

They woke up earlier today at 0645 hours and went for reflection, then was breakfast and departure for Service Learning (For today we follow the story of Rodney) at the Special Needs Home. There he cleaned windows and socialized with the residents there. It was there he felt he got a calling to do social work after seeing the smile on the face of the boy he was comforting when the boy cried. At 1200 hours they left the place and reported back to the centre and went for lunch. Then they had the debriefing where they shared their experiences. This was followed by tea. Then was the LaSalliana-lympics (a La Sallian version of the olympics). After bathing came the Solidarity Lasalliana which is a solemn experience where we maintain a state of reflection as they experience the life of an impoverished person and go for a mini exhibition ending with a small meal in full reflective state. They then went to bed.

DAY 5 (Choices)

They woke up at 0700 hours and went for reflection then was breakfast. Then they had a sing-a-long followed by more sessions by Martin Jalleh. Then they had lunch and the Mega Summary. Then they Lepaked until 1930. Then came CULTURAL NIGHT.

Then they went to the conference hall for the closing ceremony which was followed by the most energetic sing-a-long session for the whole camp. Although the given agenda states 'lights out' not many people actually went to sleep but stayed up the whole night playing games and writing affirmations.

DAY 6 (OCNS)

I would tell you what time they woke up but I dont know that because everyone woke up at different times and some might not have slept. Anyway at 0800 hours they had breakfast followed by OCNS (Operation Clean aNd Shine). They then started to depart (and if ever you read this blog you know who you are but 'we are always with you and you will never be alone'). Going back to Rodney's story he went for lunch with some of the other delegates. He then went to the bus station and went home on the 1400 hours bus.
